FlightCase is an annual study trip in which master’s students collaborate with international companies on
real-world design challenges. In 2026, a group of 28 students (20 participants and 8 committee members)
and 2 professors will travel to Taiwan, where they will engage with industry partners, explore the local
design and innovation landscape, and work on company-sponsored cases. The trip will take place between 20
July to 9 August 2026 in Taiwan.
FlightCase’s goal is to facilitate culture, experience and growth
opportunity for the masters students at IDE TU Delft.
Flight Case will enable you to discover your skills and put your knowledge into practice with real companies.
You will form a design agency with 27 other students and 2 professors. This is the time to build a professional network that lasts longer than just this trip.
During FlightCase, you will immerse yourself in a new lifestyle and experience a different view on design and life habits.
You will receive 5 ECTS for participating in Flight Case. This includes taking part in Flight Course* in Q4. Flight Case is one of the faculty electives you can take.
*Flight Course is a course students have to take in Q4 of the acedemic year to be able to fly for FlightCase
Participants must be enrolled in one of the three master’s programs at IDE, TU Delft by Fall 2025. Students who are graduating before Fall 2026 cannot apply. You must be enrolled when FlightCase happens.
Flight Course is an elective in Q4 linked to FlightCase where we will prepare cases for the trip. You must take it to join the trip and earn 5 ECTS. ID will arrange class registration for participants after the selection process is complete.
We will choose the participants based on their application questions first, followed by CV. We aim to create a diverse team with a mix of master disciplines and nationalities.
The deadline for the applications is 23:59 CET 9th January 2026.
The trip is tentatively scheduled for three weeks starting 20th July to 9th August, with final dates to be confirmed after cases are secured. For now, all participants should be available for the whole window.
Costs may vary depending on flights and accommodation. Participants will contribute €1,250. If funds remain after the trip, they will be redistributed between ID and the participants. Students must arrange their own travel and health insurance.
In case a participant withdraws from FlightCase after signing the contract, the participant is obliged to pay the costs which are caused by withdrawing from Flight Case.
Yes, but total costs must not exceed traveling from the Netherlands. This is largely for students whose home countries are closer to Taiwan than the Netherlands.
